I have been playing soccer since I was four years old and have always loved the game. I played recreational soccer when I was young but was recruited to a competitive club team at eight years of age and have always played on the premier/first team for my competitive clubs. My future goals include playing NCAA Division I, or II college soccer while attending a four year university to achieve a degree in either the field of criminology and/or psychology. My current goals in high school are to maintain my current high GPA of 3.6 and to improve it to a 4.0 by taking AP courses during my junior and senior years. I also intend to continue to play high school soccer, on the Varsity team, and to be an impact player as an integral part of the team’s overall success.
To me soccer is not just a game, or a sport, it is a way that I have been able to set and achieve goals as well as a way to learn and apply bigger life lessons. While I recognize that the lessons I have learned on the soccer field, dedication, commitment, tenacity, and hard work, are important but some lessons are learned through trial and error, and not just in winning... but that's pretty nice too!
Soccer has provided me opportunities to make some great friends, and not just teammates. And these friends have similar interests and goals and have been with me through some difficult times when I learned what it means to be a true friend, and how to discern true friendship.
Not only have a I learned what it takes to be make friends and to be a friend I have learned that my personal characteristics influence my soccer game, such as my leadership ability, as evidenced by being chosen as a co-captain during my Walnut Creek Surf Club 2017/2018 season and during my College Park High School 2018 season. Another characteristic I have, according to several of my club coaches including the world renowned Brazilian soccer player Sissi, who chose me for her 2015 club team , is my “coachability”. They have all said that I take direction well. There are many times my coaches have asked for my input regarding tactical changes on the field.
While I love soccer I do make sure to spend time on other activities such as coaching gymnastics, painting, shopping and spending time with friends, family and my golden retriever, Sox.
