My name is Maddie Bister, a 2022 student from Rio Americano High School in Carmichael, California. I am a central defender on San Juan Spirits 04 ECNL with the number 25. I have played for my high school's varsity team since freshman year, and have earned awards from high school soccer: Defensive player of the year, and All League both freshman and sophomore years.
On the field, I train 3-4 times a week with my club team. In terms of my position, I have great field vision and can easily notice open space. My passing is one of my strengths, I can play the right ball to the right feet with the correct weight, and I can easily read situations. My aggression and persistence is also something I am proud of because, I may not be the most technical, but I am easily recognized as the hardest worker. As well as training with my club team, I practice on my own every morning before school to put in the extra weight training and technical skills work necessary to compete at a high level. I love the game of soccer and feel I have thrived throughout the years because I'm coachable and had great mentors to learn from. I have strong communication skills on and off the pitch.
Off the field, I am a strong willed student. I am a part of a civic engagement program at my school requiring me to do volunteer work, internships and a senior project. I have put my work into local food shelters and homeless shelters. I can handle heavy workloads, and still put my best foot forward.
