The ability to overcome adversity is a key element in any sport, especially a team sport like soccer where every player on the team brings unique talents and skills to the whole. My name is Kyla Daniels and I play forward for San Juan 06 ECNL. Throughout my time playing soccer, I have had to overcome adversity and I am a better player, teammate and person for it. My freshman year, I battled injuries that set me back, both physically and mentally. I was cut from my top ranked ECNL team and played a year on the second team. I was devastated but put in the time and grit to heal, train and earn my spot back on the team. That same year I was a starter on my varsity team as a sophomore and was awarded team Outstanding Player and All League Team honors. I know how to battle through defeat and work to get back to the top.
I have always loved the game, starting at age 5 and playing competitively since 8. The team camaraderie and fighting for a common goal is what appeals to me the most. My greatest attributes on the field are a drive and desire to beat a defender, technical play and selfless playmaker, allowing me to play most positions on the field. To continue to play at the collegiate level, fighting for a championship for my school and team would be a dream come true. I have aspirations to study Kinesiology/Sports Medicine and become a Physical Therapist or Environmental Studies and work towards solutions for our changing world.
