Hello coaches and coaching staff,
My name is Victoria Souza and I am in the graduating class of 2024. I currently attend Tulare Union High School in Tulare, California. I would like to explain a little about myself. I started playing soccer at the age of three in a co-ed league. I played co-ed up until the age of 5. After co-ed, I played for AYSO until I was 8. Every year of my AYSO career, I played on our all star team. At 9 years old, I started to play club ball. I loved everything about the game and it became my favorite sport at a young age. I would love to get the opportunity to play at the collegiate level, it has been one of my lifetime dreams. Yes, playing at the collegiate level is one of my dreams but along with this, I would like add that I want to pursue a career in sports medicine. In order to do this I would major in kinesiology. While striving to major in kinesiology I have always pushed myself hard in school. My freshman year I took two advanced classes, my algebra 1 course and my English course. I sat at a 4.0 GPA. My sophomore year, I took AP European History along with more advanced Geometry and English courses. This year, as you know, is my junior year. I am currently taking AP English language 3 along with AP Human Bio. On my semester 1 grade report, I am sitting at a 4.125 GPA. I want to be completely honest, when the question comes up "what makes you a good candidate for a team" it makes me nervous. I'm not great with words all of the time but I will try my best to answer this question here. What makes me, Victoria, a good candidate for a team, well to answer that question I am a well rounded player who will play in any position in order to benefit my team. I am not only playing for myself but for every single one of my teammates. I have played in every position but I feel I truly shine in the midfield. While playing the midfield, I can see the entirety of the field which gives me the opportunity to control it and make more opportunities for my teammates. As of right now, I am our stat leader for the most assists. Something that sets me apart from other recruits is my drive and hard work. I understand there are plenty of girls who have a high drive and put in lots of hard work but I have had numerous obstacles that would have slowed down or even stopped an average person but not me, I have overcome everything in my path. One of these obstacles being the passing of my father. My dad was my biggest supporter. He was at every game and cheered me on whether we won or lost. He was always in my corner. His passing hit me really hard to the point I felt like giving up. I then realized that he would have hated if I gave up because of him so I play to continue to make him proud. I strive for greatness academically as well as athletically. I will overcome any obstacle thrown my way. I’ve already overcome COVID, so whats next? This is why I would be a good candidate for your team.
