Having to travel 3 and 1/2 hours from Durango, CO to Albuquerque, NM to train and compete with my club team in order to play at a higher level has been extremely challenging. I don't know very many people who do this and it just shows my dedication to become the best soccer player I can possibly be. Last year my club team won the New Mexico State Championships! My Durango High School team made it to round two last year at State Playoffs, which as a freshman, was an amazing experience. However, this year my club team lost after double overtime in PK's in the Finals at the New Mexico State Championships. It was a hard fought game with multiple injuries till the very end. The loss was quite disappointing, of course, but it challenges my team and I to strive to be even better!
With all the long travel, I've had to learn to manage my academics. It is a lot to juggle at times, but I feel that this has and will continue to prepare me for the future of college level play. I've played soccer since I was four years old and it is still my passion. I still have the same look of competitive determination in my eye now as I did when I was little. It is just who I am.
