Hi! My name is Samantha Rodes. I am a student at East Lyme High School, graduating in 2026. I am the starting goalkeeper for our girls' varsity soccer team, wearing jersey #1. I have been playing soccer for many years, beginning with my local East Lyme travel team, and progressing to club soccer with Southeast Soccer Club, National Center for Excellence, and the Olympic Development Program. In 2023, I began playing with Connecticut Rush Select, starting my journey into ECNL soccer. Through it all, I have found a home in the goal and love both the challenges and leadership opportunities that come with being a goalkeeper. I was honored to be the only freshman asked to start for the varsity team when I transitioned to high school and love the challenges and growth that this opportunity brought to me.
I have maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout middle school and high school, and currently take every honors, ECE, and AP course available to me. I take school and my grades very seriously. In addition to a heavy courseload, I am also active in many clubs and organizations both in school and outside. At East Lyme HS, I am president of the Rotary Interact Club, and a member of the Veterans Volunteer Club and of the Political Issues Club. This year, I'm one of the leaders in a school outreach program called CORE, partnering juniors with troubled 8th grade students to ensure they have a good start when transitioning to high school in the fall of 2025. I actively volunteer for my community, most recently this summer as a volunteer instructor for youth sailing camp. I was honored with the 2023 Oswegatchie Hills Club Good Citizenship Award for community service.
It has been a huge dream of mine to play soccer for a university that not only fits me athletically but also challenges me academically. I want to be a contributor to a top-level organization that will push me to grow my skills and break through boundaries, allowing me to evolve as an athlete, a teammate, and a leader. I am always eager to receive feedback and invites to ID camps so that we can meet in person, and you can evaluate my ability to fit into your program.
