My success in soccer is something that has taken grit and drive. In fourth grade, my friends were all selected for the top travel team, but I was placed on the “B team”. Although extremely disappointed at the time, I now look back and realize that being a part of this second-tier team was one of the best things that could have happened in my soccer career. I gained confidence in my skills and learned how to lead a team with my play. Moreover, a fire was lit within me to not only make the "A team” the next season, but to be one of the best on the squad.
Throughout my life, this uphill grind continued. As a result of my hard work, I improved immensely as I progressed through the levels of travel and premier soccer. I was one of only two freshman to start on varsity. In the spring of 2019, I was named MVP of the Connecticut State Cup, and helped lead my NPL team to the National Cup tournament in Colorado.
In the fall of 2019, I helped my high school team win our conference championship by man marking two different D1 recruits. I was named MVP of that conference tournament.
I am captain of my club team, and I am the captain of my high school team as a junior!
My high school coaches would talk about my versatility as I have played center and outside back as well as center and outside mid. For my NPL team, I am the sweeper. For both teams, I have been assigned the task of man-marking the other team's best player, and this is a challenge that I truly relish.
My drive for success extends to all aspects of my life. I maintain a 4.58 weighted GPA and I play a leadership role in many extracurricular activities. Something that I think is very important in any person is to be well rounded. In addition to athletics, I am part of many extracurricular activities including my church youth group, a nonprofit organization called Pencils for Promise, and a freshman mentor program called Fusion where I was one of two student leaders. I am a tutor in my high school's writing center, and I also tutor younger students in a program called Newtown Student Tutors. I also have been chosen to be a freshman orientation leader next year. When I enter college, I will bring this same passion to be the best version of myself on the field, in the classroom, and in the greater community.
