I have been playing soccer since I was four years old. I played fall and spring seasons every year, and often played 3 v 3 in the summers, finishing second in the 3 v 3 National Championships and 3rd in the World Championships. I was a starter for all of my middle and high school career. In high school, I was high scorer for both my freshman and junior years (I was unable to play my sophmore year due to an ACL injury). I have been playing on premier club teams for several years, and was the high scorer for those teams as well.
One of the things that makes me different from many others is that I am equally as good on my left foot as I am on my right. I actually probably score more goals left-footed than right. Also, I am equally as good at scoring with headers. I am a team player. I am one of the top leaders in assists for both my club and high school teams. In addition to playing soccer, I have also been a soccer referee since 2010, and I feel this gives me a greater appreciation for the game and for the officials. I am also a volunteer coach for my team's summer soccer camp and enjoy working with younger children to help them improve their skills and understanding of the game. My love for the game is one of the assets that I bring to a college team.
I am undecided yet as to what career path I want to follow, but I know that I want my college career to include soccer. I am a hard worker and challenge myself both academically and athletically. One of my most recent challenges was participating in Marathon High and completing the Donna Hicken Half-Marathon. I trained for this while also running track and playing club soccer. I finished in 242nd place out of 3376 finishers and 9th in my age group out of 176. My willingness to push myself is another asset.
I am a dedicated and committed person. I started playing soccer when I was 4 and still play. I started playing basketball when I was 6 and only quit playing in high school as it was the same season as soccer. I started taking karate when I was 4 and continued through 9th grade, and earned a 2nd degree black belt. I only stopped this as I ran out of hours in the day to do all of the other sports I was in. I ran my first race at 4 years old and continue to run track and race to this day. My dedication and commitment are two more reasons that I would be an asset to a college team.
