My name is Abby Whitcomb and I have been playing soccer since I was 5 years old. Throughout my life I have tried multiple different sports, including swimming, cross country, and softball, but soccer is the only one that I have truly loved to play and stuck with for almost 12 years. I love stepping onto the field for practice every day, whether it is for my club or my high school, and cannot wait for game days to come, where I can put everything that I have worked on throughout the week into use and help my team play at the best level possible.
When I started playing soccer, I had no idea that I was going to be a goalkeeper. I had played defense for years, but one day, I was watching a game on TV, and the one position that grabbed my attention was keeper. I fell in love with the uniqueness of the position, the ability for keepers to be great with their hands and their feet, the way that a game can come down to a keeper making a single save. I knew that I wanted to play keeper for the rest of my life, and as a got older and better, I knew that this is what I wanted to do in college, and maybe even after, if I work hard enough and show others that I can keep playing at the next level.
I have always wanted to play in college. I practice at least 5 days a week, sometimes going to two or even three different practices in a single day, from school to keeper training and then to my club team's practice. Soccer and my busy schedule has taught me how to manage my time in and out of school and soccer so that I can keep up my good grades while never missing practices. It has also taught me what it means to be part of a team and work and cooperate with others, and has helped me become more of a leader in every aspect of my life.
I feel that I would make a great addition to your team because I am hard-working, both in soccer and in school, I'm dedicated, making sure to always attend practices and every game, and I know that I can keep getting better and reaching new heights, setting bigger goals for myself to reach. I am ready to continue learning and developing after high school and believe that I can grow to be so much more as a person and a player.
