Simply put, I want to play soccer in college because I want to challenge myself and pit myself against others who possess a high skill level. Only by playing against the best and learning from the best can I be the best player I can possibly be. I want to be a part of how coaches make their players excel. Additionally, I don't want an opportunity handed to me - I want to earn my place!
Soccer is very important to me because it emphasizes and develops in me a set of skills in a unique environment that others my age might not have. Soccer creates physical fitness, endurance, alertness, team work, time-management, and confidence; all of which benefit me on and beyond the soccer match. I have made many friends playing soccer, and these friendships last through good times and bad times. In fact, I have been playing soccer since I was nine and the benefits for me have been huge!
My life goal to become a social studies or math teacher and also a soccer coach at a middle or high school. Going to college is very important to me because it gives me the skills to launch successfully into my educational career. Playing soccer in college will give me a sense of balance for my academic work and a way to give back to my school.
I would also like to mention the two soccer nicknames I have been given. One is "Sticky Paws", which was given to me by a college head coach who witnessed me not allow a goal scored during the entire three day ID camp session we attended. (In fact, it took a college player who was helping out to finally get one in the net - and just one!) My other nickname is "Sensei", which was given to me by a parent of a team mate after allowing the fewest goals in our State soccer league for two straight seasons!
I hope you take a look at the growing strength of my soccer resume (this past season I held the lowest allowed goals as a keeper at my state’s highest soccer level for my age-Georgia U14 A - and recently receiving an invite to play in the U.S. Youth Soccer Women’s National Piedmont Conference!) Check out my academic record as well, which highlights both my grade point average (high A) and character awards! If you’re looking for talent and character both on and off the soccer field, I think I can help your team!
