My name is Dalya Munir. Graduating class of 2019. I play both Varsity Soccer and Club Soccer with the #1 U18 female team in the UAE. In that same title, I am considered the best U18 women's goalkeeper in the UAE. Both my team and I earned these proud titles by winning the duFC's UAE Girls Challenge in 2017. I'm playing soccer all over the world, at a high level too! I've played in amazing venues; India, Dubai, Sweden, Oman, US, and England all because of the love I have for the game. Being the captain of the winning team in the Middle East South Asia Conference in a penalty shootout as a sophomore is what dreams are made of. Instinct, timing, and strategy all played a key role when I stepped up to take the first penalty shot and scored.
I have been fortunate to play in the Gothia Youth World Cup in Gothenburg Sweden for the past three years. Although we never took home the Championship Title, in 2017 my team won the “Fair Play Award.” Only four teams out of 1700 teams were given this award. It is an award given by being nominated and selected by FIFA. This is the award I am most proud of, as no other female team has ever been given this award. No matter if you win, lose or draw we all must play fair.
My family has been on an International Expat assignment for the past seven years. I consider my home Hampton Falls, New Hampshire in the US. I will graduate from the American Community School of Abu Dhabi in 2019 as an open-minded world citizen. ACS is ranked as a college preparatory school. In my opinion, strong academics are just as important as playing soccer to me. My aspiration is to go into sports medicine as I’d like to be a primary sports medicine physician and continue to feed my passion for sports.
It is very simple to me: I am a goalkeeper because of my passion for the game and the love of this position. As a coach, you are very aware that a goalkeeper has an instinct or they don't. You cannot teach this. I have it!
