Personal Statement
My name is Anika Smith, and I am a military child currently living in Stuttgart, Germany. Living overseas I have had the opportunity to play in the Junior Bundelisga, the highest level in the country, for the past two years. The team has not only developed my play, but strengthened my language and communication skills with my teammates as well. The experience has made me a better player with a different skillset than other players in America. As much as I have enjoyed my life in Germany over the last eight years, I am looking forward to returning to the U.S. to pursue a career in the medical field and possibly play sports as well. I believe that my involvement in several extracurriculars sets me apart from other recruits. I not only play soccer, but I also run track, where I placed second in DODEA Europe in the 100m (12.30) and 200m (25.59) this year, I play the violin in my school orchestra, and I am on the leadership board of multiple Honors Societies. As a rising senior I am looking forward to exploring colleges this summer and hopefully finding the best match to continue my academic and athletic careers.
