Personal Statement
Sports, in general, has been a vital part of my life. I've learnt discipline, hard work and challenges that have over all made me a better person. In soccer I learnt how to be part of a team and how to become a key part of a select group, hard work pays off in the end.
Being from Spain and playing soccer for the past nine years, the main focus always was on technical abilities rather than working on fitness, which hurt me once coming to America to play collegiate soccer. With this I had to adapt to new setting, new team and new focus on the game. The change in mindset and focus on soccer has been a positive aspect in my life and as a person, as I have had to push myself harder to become a successful player in the team. In addition to this, I have had to be in teams where there was a lot of pressure and where there was not a lot of room for error. Overall, I have been able to win 4 leagues at a high level, and was runner up twice for the state championship and once third. I hope to one day be able to come home with more, and I want to aspire to be the best teammate, athlete and student I can become.
Fortunately, I have had all my education be in English as I went to an International School in Barcelona where I completed the British Curriculum, but also I am both Spanish and Irish (I have both nationalities) and English has been my first language alongside Spanish, I also know Catalan and a bit of French. I am currently majoring in Psychology, as I feel like in connection with soccer the mind is very important and so you have to take care of it to succeed personally.
