Personal Statement
Being born and raised on a multicultural, tropical island in the western Pacific has given me a unique, well-rounded perspective enhanced by having a Micronesian (Yap island) mother and an American father whom love and support me very much. Because of this, I feel very equipped to move on to my next chapter of life being college.
Given Guam’s geographic location, our soccer affiliation takes on a national identity within FIFA, specifically the AFC (Asian Football Confederation). Having said this, I have had the opportunity to travel with Guam’s junior national team to compete in AFC tournaments across Asia challenging the powerhouses of Japan, China, North and South Korea, etc.. During these tournaments, I’m honored to say that I’ve been appointed team captain four of my five years involved. Most currently, I have moved up to play with Guam’s senior women’s national team, the Masakada, playing an international friendly against Singapore in October, 2017.
In searching for potential colleges, I have three main criterions in mind. First, I want to attend a Christian college as it is very important to me that I stay grounded in my faith in Jesus Christ. Second, I want to play in a credible soccer program that will continue to develop and enhance my skill set. Thirdly, my desire is to attend a school located in proximity to both a city/suburban area and a major body of water.
