Personal Statement
In third grade soccer was a sport that only the boys played. Eventually, a couple of girls and I decided to join them. Slowly but surely, it became a regular thing, and since then I've become increasingly passionate about the game. The number of girls playing continued to grow and last year I captained the school’s senior girls team who won the National Championships.
I've played club/high school soccer for the past 5 years. I've traveled to different countries to compete against other schools, guest play with other league teams, and even represented The Bahamas playing other countries in the Girls CONCACAF U-15 Championships in 2018.
Growing up in a small country and a tight knit school community helped to push me to try and distinguish myself from the other players in the region. I've played against older girls as well as against/on boys' teams and am dedicated to improving and getting even better over the next coming weeks, months, and years. I want to further my game and test my limits, so I am excited at the opportunity to possibly play at extremely competitive levels. In college I would like to not only meet talented women who I know will help me to become a better player, but I would also like to challenge myself in the classroom as well as on the field. Academics are incredibly important to me, and throughout my soccer career I have focused on balancing training and fixtures with my academic work, and know I can continue to do so throughout college years. In tenth grade I was awarded the senior high school (Grades 9-12) prizes for both top academic student and female athlete. Throughout a year filled with accomplishments both for my club and school teams, I ensured that I stayed on top of all my schoolwork and exams, and I will continue to do so through college.
