Personal Statement
Originally being from Nepal, I did not have many opportunities to play football (soccer), but kickball in PE class was the closest I got. I realized I had good aim and was the only girl who could lift the ball off the ground when I was kicking it away. Compliments from my teacher and classmates only spurred me on. Once we moved to Sri Lanka in middle school, I took up every opportunity to play football and try and improve.
As a player, I have a strong shot and good aim and can play wherever needed. Although I tend to be quiet outside the field, I like to look out for my teammates and help them whenever possible. I am very open to feedback from my coaches and always work hard to improve my game.
Regarding schoolwork, I put much effort into being the best possible student. I am focused in class and strive to be the best possible version of myself. I am a part of our school's Model United Nations as deputy chair for the Security Council and am also the service leader of Philile Preschool, helping out less-privileged children, and we always end off with a fun little game of football.
I want to go to a college where I can show my abilities on the field and be challenged academically. I want to show that I am a well-rounded person and hope to make my family proud of the person they have raised me to be.
