Personal Statement
I am an Australian goalkeeper and have a strong passion for soccer and have been playing since I was five years old. For me, playing at a college level in the US is a once in a lifetime opportunity that could change my life and open up many new pathways in life for me.
Today (24th February 2019) I made my full 1st grade debut (Opens) for Sydney Olympic - aged 15.
I have a personal soccer website is www.amy.soccer. Although basic, it has my stats and video highlights.
I have been a goalkeeper for the past 6 seasons, the most recent 4 of those in NPL1, the highest level in Australia and the first 2 in NPL2, the second highest level in Australia. I have spent the last 3 seasons playing for Sydney University Soccer Football Club and this season will be playing for Sydney Olympic Football Club which has a rich history in Australian soccer. I have excellent hand-eye coordination and ball handling skills with a strong core and strong legs. I am an extremely hardworking player and student as well as being very coachable.
Academically I am a high achiever and maintain a high ranking whilst being very studious. I have an IQ of 154 and attend Caringbah High School in Sydney (a Selective High School). I will be in grade 11 in 2019 and grade 12 in 2020; graduating from high school in November 2020.
In Australia, we graduate from High School in November. As such, I would be able to attend College in the USA from January2021, onwards.
Although I have not yet sufficiently decided, my academic passions lie in science (specifically chemistry and biology), business, law and mathematics which I plan to pursue in University. I wish to go to a University where I can push myself hard both in the classrooms and on the field. I am open to all options that I cross and want to find the University that suits me best both academically and in athletics.
Studying, playing and living in the USA would be very exciting for me. I am well travelled, having spent time this year in China, England, France and the USA for soccer tournaments and goalkeeper coaching in Leicester, UK.
