Personal Statement
I am Sophie Kasky, a student-athlete from the Seattle, Washington area. My primary position is striker, however, I also have experience playing right wing and attacking midfield. As someone who has lived internationally my whole life (currently living in Doha, Qatar), football has remained a constant for me. Football overseas is extremely competitive and no matter where I have lived, I have found a home on the football pitch. In addition to football, I also participate in my school's varsity volleyball and track teams where I am now captain. I am a competitive, hardworking, coachable, and determined individual who will put in the work to become the best student-athlete I can be.
Living in Qatar, a primarily Muslim country has made it a bit more challenging to pursue football than it might be in the US. To get quality competition, I became part of Qatar's only U18 Women's Academy five years ago and was part of the creation of a second Women's Academy this year. I am heavily dedicated to improving as a player throughout the school year as I will be spending the summer attending ID camps in the US. The teams we play here typically consist of Women's teams from other countries, or other men's teams here in Qatar. Many of the predominantly Muslim teams we play here do not allow filming of games as a religious observance, however I have included a highlight film of footage I have been able to get over the past couple of years and, more recently, from the first international school tournament in three years. More importantly, I have done everything I can to develop myself as a player and I plan to continue growing. Inside the classroom, I have maintained above a 4.1 GPA, taken AP and IB classes, I am a part of the National Honors Society, Tri-M Music Honors Society, Vice President of the Varsity Club Council and an elected Student Council Executive. All while participating in all three sports seasons (where I was captain for Soccer and Track) and playing for my Academy team.
Overall, I am a highly self-motivated athlete who is willing to do what it takes as both a high school athlete and potentially a collegiate athlete. Football is my constant and I would love the opportunity to carry that part of my life to the next level.
