Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Ella Karlsson, I am a Swedish national currently enrolled in ISLQ (International School of London Qatar) and playing in BE Soccer Girls U18 Academy. Throughout my years of playing soccer, when I first started, I was 4 years old and since then there has not been any other profession I could think of doing my whole life. Along those years I have also tried different sports, for example track and field, tennis and volleyball but they have not clicked perfectly just the way soccer does. My main position has varied throughout the years, though as of late, I am playing the 2 (Right fullback) or 5 (Center back) role.
Academically my greatest value has always been my strong work ethic. While facing challenges in school while migrating to countries or moving schools I have always found that my work ethic has helped me find my way through it. In academic settings my primary goal is always to achieve my highest grades and try my utmost hardest to reach there. As a student I always find myself asking for help through either my peers or teachers if I am having difficulties. I aim to take the Bilingual diploma as I can confidently speak, read, and write in two languages, Swedish my mother tongue and English the language I take all my studies in. As I currently go to an IB (International Baccalaureate) School I strive to graduate with the IB Diploma and reach my utmost highest points. Although as I am still in grade 9 I have yet to entered DP (Development Program), my 8 subjects are as followed: English language and literature, INSO (Individuals and societies), Physics, Biology, Math extended, Swedish language and literature, Visual arts, and PHE (Physical and Health Education).
You will quickly discover me on the field as a player with confidence and calmness on the ball, and physicality and incredible willingness without the ball; I will fight for the ball, and I am not scared nor too mentally weak to push myself on and off the field. As mentioned in my academics, my work ethic also has a significant role in how I push myself on the pitch. I believe and have always believed that soccer is a sport full of mistakes which are inevitable, and so the crucial part is your willingness to get the ball back, and I can confidently say I will always give my everything to get the ball back if me or my teammates have lost it. Throughout games I find myself playing impeccable long passes either from free kicks or other situations, while also making space and after using my technical skills to create chances on goal. One of my current goals is to improve and develop technical skills even more as they are a crucial part of how my current team plays soccer. Although making it professional is always my aim within soccer, soccer also gives me so much more I genuinely enjoy this sport an incredible amount and couldn't see my life without it. If I am ever feeling sad, soccer can fix it, if I am ever over thinking, soccer can fix it, soccer has become as though my best friend through life. My absolute favorite part of soccer would be the competitiveness although the sport gives me so much, I always have this strong drive to win, it could simply be a 1v1 or it could be something bigger like a whole tournament, I will always want to win. My greatest ambition is to make it professional and play with my biggest idols.
