Personal Statement
Going to medical school and becoming a physician has been a goal of mine for as long as I can remember. It is a personal goal, born from wanting to provide my family with the medical care they need. My older brother was born with a rare syndrome which caused him severe physical pain and restricted his activities. Because so much of my parents’ attention was focused on caring for my brother, I learnt to be independent from a young age and find my own passions.
I dedicated a lot of my free time to sports, especially soccer, and I have been a goalkeeper since 5th grade. In the last two years, it has led me to become team captain. Soccer fueled my love of challenges, of always improving myself, not settling in. It has taught me discipline, responsibility, self-confidence and accountability. As team captain you a responsibility to nurture comradery, and break any competition between teammates. With this spirit, we carried our team to a national championship here in Dubai and got to visit Manchester United and train on their Field. It also gave me the opportunity to continue competing and be selected to take part in a LaLiga youth Soccer Clinic both in the UAE and in Spain.
