Personal Statement
I was born in 2009 and turn 15 in December 2024, I am scheduled to graduate in 2027.
I am an attacking minded, naturally right-footed, but two-footed player who creates from many parts of the pitch and am also a set piece specialist. I primarily play different roles through the spine of a squad - CAM/CDM/ST and in a pinch CB. I play in Hong Kong, for the club Lucky Mile in their U15 and U18 girls squads and am a representative of Hong Kong's U16 Women's Youth Representative (National) Team, where I am also part of the leadership team for each and have captained each squad during the past year. The Youth Representative Team has a permanent squad and training setup. Overall I train/play 10-12 hours a week across five days (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri and Sat), and play up to 2 matches a week on Tuesdays and Sundays. I also play A + B Grade (Varsity, Sophomore) soccer in Hong Kong for my school. I also volunteer weekly as a coach for the U6 Girls at our club, and I provide basic match/season analysis for the U15 and U18 teams I play on, but I also use the data for myself to improve.
I have just completed Year 10 (equivalent to Grade 9 in the US) in Hong Kong at an iGCSE/IB International School. I am a native English speaker, but also speak fluent Cantonese and Mandarin. My current standardized global test results (YELLIS) place me in the Top 5% of students using the UK-based GCSE education system worldwide, and I have finished this year with the equivalent of a 3.9/4.0 GPA. My strongest subjects are in Economics, History and the Sciences. I am most interested in economics and data, but I've also developed a passion for history this year.
My goal is to combine football and academics at the highest level I can in College and to test myself and learn from the best in both areas. I believe that the next best step for my career would be to play abroad in the United States. Around College soccer readiness, I participated in two US D1 football camps (College ID and Elite) last summer (July 2023) and felt like I wasn't out of place and received nice feedback during the camps. I already balance the workload of heavy team and individual football training and academics, as I already have been doing this for 2+ years and feel comfortable I can be successful in a US college environment.
