Personal Statement
Having spent the last eight years playing football at an elite level in England from U11’s through to the WSL Academy league, I feel the next step of my development is through the American collegiate sport pathway. Women’s Soccer in America is a more physically demanding game compared to English football; an aspect of my performance which I have great desire to improve. The chance to play college soccer has been an ambition of mine for many years, due to the exposure and profile of the sport in America; combined with the opportunity to train every day, mirroring that of a professional player. In addition to this, the opportunity to play in a different country in an extremely competitive system is the perfect platform to provide a route to a professional programme upon finishing University; and playing full-time football is my ultimate long-term goal.
I was scouted for Brighton & Hove Albion centre of excellence aged 8 at a school tournament, starting in the U11 all the way up to the U16. I trained twice a week up until the U16's where training was extended further to three times per week. I then progressed into the Brighton & Hove Albion Women's Academy team (u20) who play in the WSL Academy League. Throughout my playing career so far, I've had to manage juggling school work, social life and football. Travelling 1 hour 1/4 each way to training, I've had to be highly organised to maintain high standards in both my sport and academic life. It has been both challenging but also hugely enjoyable and rewarding. At the same time, I've been fully involved in school life, in a number of leadership roles as well as captaining the girls football team for five years. During my time in school, it’s been a great passion of mine to encourage other girls to participate in sport by actively encouraging them to represent the school and showing them all the benefits this brings to them as an individual and as a team. I am looking forward to the next phase of my footballing career and feel I have the right attitude, characteristics and motivation to be an asset to your team.
