Personal Statement
Hi my name is Lily Norigeon Grehan. I have been playing soccer since the age of 5. I started playing soccer in the boys academy in my home town Kilbeggan. I was good friends with a few of the boys as we used to all collect Match Attax together so i decided to give it a go. I always liked playing soccer but the love and passion grew when my dad set up the first girls team in Kilbeggan. Throughout the next few years my team lost every single game but i built my resilience which now makes me strive at a higher level. I have learnt that no matter what level I'm playing at I will always push to be the hardest working player on the team. Captaining my school team has made me realise that I am a team leader and a role model to the younger team in the school.
Once I complete my Leaving Certificate my dream is to study athletic therapy so that I can help other athletes play better and recover quicker. Once I have completed this I would like to work with a professional team or open my own recovery centre. Travelling long distances of 1-2 hours to play in the National League has been a challenge at times however I always find a way to complete my schoolwork and study, even if this means putting a headlamp on in the back of the car!
I have a hunger to play at the highest level and want to see myself reach both my academic and athletic potential and earn an academic and athletic scholarship. Since the age of 12 going to America to study and play at the highest level has always been my dream. Everyday I try to better myself to make this dream a reality.
