Personal Statement
Ever since I was a little girl waiting for my mom after school, my immediate thought was too go on the field and practice my free kicks. The dream for me at the time was to play in a club. It was something I never thought would ever happen but it was always in the back of my head. I played for the school team every chance I could, even for the boys who were older than me, I just wanted the opportunity to play, doesn't matter against who. I strongly believe that this mentality has remained within me today, I just want to play and advance in soccer, no matter against who. The dream that I had as a little girl has been achieved in 10th grade, I started playing for the soccer academy Kairat, it is the club of the highest performance in all of Almaty.
My dad would always sign me up for various sports such as swimming and tennis in which I have competed in regional levels and earned first places in some as well. It was normal for me to always go to training after school ever since the 1 grade. Looking back my life was full of sport but I wouldn't have it any other way. I got used to a highly demanding schedule and enjoyed the sports which I was competing in but soccer was the one that really stuck to me. Peculiarly, it was the sport I got into myself without the influence of my parents. I got into it playing with the boys at lunch break and watching world cups, that sounds strange but when I watched them, I saw a group of the most elite soccer players creating magic with the ball at their feet, which would be rewatched for years to come. I tried to play it whenever I could and started getting better.
I am currently balancing the intense IB DP course while playing for a soccer team. I have excellent time management skills and am a big team player - I always want what's best for the team. I have good character and get along great with my classmates and teammates. I am also vocal on the pitch and not afraid to take responsibility which is a great attribute for my position as centre back. I am also highly adaptable with changing positions as before I played for left winger and left back which gives me more experience in the different positions and grants me a better understanding in the requirements in each position which allows me to be a better teammate when it comes to advice and reading the game. I believe that I will always have room for improving as any athlete does, no matter their level. I am eager to learn from my teammates, professionals and coaches and I believe that coming to the states will fulfill that goal.
As mentioned before, I am taking the IB DP in which I have selected chemistry, biology and english as my higher level subjects. I am fluent in English, Russian and working on my French. I have always been interested in biology due to its broad knowledge spectrum, it grants a huge amount of knowledge under a small title. I knew that I wanted to do biology ever since I was a child where I would spend my lunch breaks looking at animal encyclopedias in the library and memorizing everything humanly possible to later share facts with my friends. Looking back that might have been rather peculiar for a kid to spend her lunch breaks on but for me it was nothing short of amazing. In university I want to study biology to further advance my knowledge and be able to work in that sphere.
I currently still play for Kairat and last year we won 3rd place for the championship of Kazakhstan where more than 20 teams competed. I was captain of the schools junior varsity team for 3 season where we won podium places. Even though the dream of playing for an academy was achieved, I don't want to stop there, I want to go further and play in the US. I am a hard worker and want to progress athletically and academically, therefore, I want to go to USA and am working my hardest to make this a reality as I believe it will allow me to achieve more in my passion and to make a difference in the world.
