Personal Statement
I am seeking a soccer scholarship that will allow me to continue playing the sport I love at an elite level while obtaining a degree in an area that will lead me to a fulfilling career post-graduation.
I consider myself to be a passionate athlete and driven student, my aim is to become a well-respected team member that pushes me to become the best version of myself both on and off the field. As a highly motivated and dedicated soccer player, I believe my work ethic and commitment to the sport make me an ideal candidate for your team.
What sets me apart from other recruits is my ability to balance my athletic aspirations with my academic commitments. I have consistently maintained a 3.6 GPA out of 4.0 while devoting around 10 hours weekly to soccer practice, games, and training. I am currently playing for a senior ladies team with adults ages 21 up to about 35, as a 17 year old student. I believe that playing with and against adults helps me improve and develop myself as an athlete as well as gain experience and knowledge from my teammates who have been playing for longer. However, recently I had the opportunity to trial for Watford FC, a pro/semi-pro club in London. After going along to the trial and playing with totally new people for a 3 hour session, I was offered the opportunity to go back and play for them. Despite this opportunity, I had to politely decline the offer due to time and money reasons. This experience helped me to feel more confident as a player and knowing I could've have been playing at that level means I will strive to keep improving and stay at a level where I can continue competing for more elite teams.
My organisational skills and time-management abilities have helped me excel in both academic and athletic areas. As a future student-athlete, I pride myself on being a strong teammate on the field and a successful student in the classroom. Whether on or off the field, I try my best to embody the values of respect, teamwork, and perseverance. I understand the importance of teamwork, always supporting my teammates in their successes and challenges. I appreciate leadership's crucial role in team dynamics, and I do what I can do lead by example. I have also been a part of my school Combined Cadet Force for the last 2 years as an Army Cadet, (reaching a Sergeant Rank in after one and a half years) which has helped me to progress my self discipline and leadership.
I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to your team while also continuing to learn and grow as both an athlete and a person.
