Personal Statement
My name is Libby Hudson, I play both centre back and full back (either left or right being comfortable on both feet). I started playing with boys at the age of 5 s a natural centre back, using my tactical awareness of the sport to be able to organise and communicate with my team mates throughout the game. My intelligence and knowledge of the game (watching football matches multiple times a week and being a season ticket holder at Nottingham forest for 10 years) helps with my positioning, and consequently my decision making. I am very outgoing, and am always open to criticism, doing all I can to take advice on board in attempt to improve my game. My passion for defending and prolonged determination to avoid conceding goals has enabled me to be a successful defender throughout my many years playing the sport. More recently, after being moved up an age group from U16s to U18s at Nottingham Forest, I had to adapt and take on the role of fullback. Playing on both the left and right side has enabled me to improve my attacking aspects of the game, helping me to be more beneficial to my team, being in wide areas to provide an additional attacking option, and to cross balls into the box. As I have played for over 10 years now, I have put a lot of time and hard work into perfecting my technique when striking a ball and controlling it, enabling me to be capable of performing a variety of different styles of pass. When I turned 16, I began playing for a women’s team as soon as possible. Surrounding myself with more experienced, more physically fit players, introduced a challenge to me at such a young age and therefore helped further improve my awareness and understanding of the sport, and my physical strength. My physical strength has noticeably improved, being able to stand my ground, and also dispossess people much larger than me.
As well as soccer, I have played volleyball for the last 3 years as a libero. My team placed 4th in the country at national championships, and when representing the East Midlands, we placed 5th as a region. In school, I have always been hardworking and persevering, wanting to complete every task to the best of my ability. I achieved all 9s and 8s in my mock assessments prior to my GCSEs, equating to a 4.0 GPA, and I am hoping to continue improving this as I continue my education in the states, hopefully attending Honour and AP classes. I particularly enjoy Maths, tasking Statistics and Further Maths as additional GCSEs to widen my knowledge of the subject. Additionally I enjoy Science, wanting to do either Zoology or Veterinary Sciences as my major at University.
