Personal Statement

My name is Estée D'Hooghe and I am a a Belgium national studying and playing in Madrid, Spain with Atletico Madrid. I was invited to the Belgium U19 Training camp February 2023 and will find out if I made the Euro U19 team in June. My main position has varied, but as of late, I am playing the 4 or 5 role.

Academically, I have a strong work ethic. When I have faced setbacks in the classroom, I have sought additional help and put in the time to improve my grades. My goal in the classroom is to always do my best and get the best grades I can. All of my studies in Spain have been in English and I feel very confident in reading, writing, and speaking the language. I am currently taking the International Baccalaureate (IB Diploma) with 3 standard level classes which are Math analysis and approaches, English language and literature, and Spanish. My 3 higher level classes are Biology, Business Management, and Sports Exercise and Health Science.

You will discover that I am a confident physical player on the field. I stand out on the field because of my strong physical presence; I'll fight for the ball and am always willing to push myself both on and off the field. My work ethic also has a significant role in my performance. I like to create space on the field which is where my technical abilities as a player comes into play. Being competitive and working as a team to win games is my favourite aspect of playing soccer. My greatest desire to play professional soccer and continue in college and beyond.
