Personal Statement
I have been passionate about football since I was 5 years ago old. I have been dedicated, committed and excited ever since I stepped out on that pitch 12 years ago. When I was younger I always wanted to be around a ball, always wanted a new one to kick or hold, this is when I fell in love with it. Throughout my 12 year football career, I have played for the highest level of English football, with Manchester City and Manchester United. When at these academies, the expectation to perform and work hard was evident. From this I learnt ; ways to adapt, mental stability, maturity, emotional intelligence and the ability to perform under pressure. I believe all of these attributes will add credibility to the team. During my time in high level football, I also developed my key attributes such as passing, reading of the game and vision. This will benefit any college I get recruited to because I add a level of calmness and security in the middle of the pitch. Because of my experience in other teams as well, I have had to adapt to a new playstyle, coach, teammates and area. Therefore I believe I will be able to adapt to the team and their culture very quickly. As well as this, I have had to deal with different personalities and create new chemistry on and off the pitch with different teammates here in England. Therefore, I believe I will fit in with my College teammates and create chemistry on and off the pitch in order to truly fulfil our purpose as a team. As well as this, I also understating people’s limits and have the desire to help others. I was a captain during my time playing for school and vice captain at my various different clubs. This shows my leadership mentality and my ability to help those around me and encourage them.
Academically, within my age group here in the UK, I scored the top 10 best predicted grades and eventually had the No.1 best overall progress. This mirrors my hard work, integrity and intelligence. I was able to juggle playing soccer, getting good grades in my examinations, good sleep and a good diet, therefore my multitasking and coordination will be beneficial and needed during my college soccer career.
My college aspirations range. My main priority is to give back to the coach who will recruit me for their team because they believe in me. I will work hard in games, training and off the pitch too. I will be respectful, grateful, understanding and confident towards my coach to show my faith in them and their plans. I want to win championships and awards of course, but those are not my main aspirations. I know that being a college student athlete, I have a chance to be scouted by a professional soccer team wherever in the world and I am going to prove in my 4 years how grateful I am to the college that they have given me that opportunity.
