Maria Koller '24 Recruiting Profile

As a soccer player, I am really competitive, I strive to give it my all in every game and practice, and I am rarely late to practice or games. I am incredibly passionate about soccer, since it has been a huge part of my life since I was 6 years old and I have loved everytime that I have been able to step on the field, which is something that allows me to give it my all in every game and practice. As a player, I have good vision on the field, I'm good at dribbling, I'm fast, and I can play the whole field, especially defense and midfield. I am incredibly driven and will do everything I can to excel academically and on the field. I am interested in majoring in Sports Media / Communication.

The highlight of my career so far has been playing in the largest international youth tournament (Gothia Cup) where we finished 9th out of 85 teams, making it to the final of the Dana Cup, winning the Players Player of the Year award for Varsity as a Sophmore, and being called up to Varsity in 8th grade for a  national tournament of over 15 American Schools in Mexico called ASOMEX (where we won first place), while simultaneously playing for the JV and JJV teams, and scoring a last-minute goal to send my Varsity team to the final. During the 2021-2022 season, I played and started regularly for both Varsity and my club team (Mexico United FC). For Varsity, we made it to the league final and the ASOMEX final, and made it to CONADEIP Nationals. In the ASOMEX tournament, I registered one goal, four assists, and scored 3 penalties, in seven games. For my club team, we recently came second in Nationals, won Copa Récord (National tournament for league champions), won the Copa Futuros Campeones for the second time, the league LIFSA NORTE, came in second in the ISA Cup, and this summer we competed in the largest youth soccer tournament in the world, the Gothia Cup in Sweden and later the Dana Cup in Denmark. I ended the year with seven goals and over ten assists. 

As a person, I am persevering, empathetic, open-minded, and I use criticism and feedback as a way to grow as a person and as a player. I can speak two languages fluently, Spanish and English, and currently I am learning a third (German). Academically, I am a good student,  I am organized, I ask questions when I have them, and I listen attentively in class. I have obtained honor roll throughout every semester in my highschool career. I value my education and I place it above all else.
