Personal Statement
Since the time I was 4 years old, I have had to balance my academic life with sports. I loved the fact that my parents gave me the space to note have to chose one or the other. Now at the age of 17, I am looking forward to the opportunity to play soccer and compete in track at an elite level during my collegiate years.
While I have learned and played several sports over the years including golf, tennis and swimming, soccer has always been my number #1 sport, even as I do it alongside my other sport of track & field where I run the 100m, 200m & 400m and currently sit in the top 10 fastest times in each event in my age division in my country.
The truth is, soccer, like track, provides me with the opportunity to share comradery with others and the position that I have played - forward/attacking midfielder has given me the opportunity to be not only a shot maker, but a playmaker, especially as a winger.
I experience my greatest joys seeing my teammates thrive and the overall team attain levels of success that all coaches strive for. Additionally, my discipline that comes from being an individual athlete, which contributes to fitness, physical training and conditioning provides a great complement to a sport that requires strength and endurance. These are some of the reasons that I believe I would be an asset to any team or university, coupled with my years of experience at club & national team soccer and I look forward to the opportunity to prove this.
