Personal Statement
To whom it may concern,
My name it Teegan, Im currently 18years old and nearly at the end of my first year at University over in Australia, completeing a Bachelor of Applied Fitness.
Sport has always been apart of my life as i was privelaged anough to have my parents get me involved from the tender age of 6. Ive played Soccer, Softball, Touch Football and Athletics all i enjoy very much and with the support and encouragement from friends and family has enabled me to succeed in all these areas to the best of my ability. However Soccer has been and will always be my passion to pursue.
I grew up in a town called Orange which is 3-4hour drive from Sydney where all the big soccer clubs and leagues are played so my family were always taking me across the state to attend tournaments of all sorts. My parents and i did not know how i could get to the next level until it was to late, here in Australia they recruit at a very young age (13-15years old) when i was 16 i felt shattered..I had not known this infromation and could not see any way i could possibly get recognised being all the way out in the west.
Two years later i recieved a letter of invitation to attend the Nike surf cup as part of a NSW U17s team which was held in San diego late 2009. It was an eye opening tournament and the cultural aspects of USA i just fell in love with. Ever since i had my goals set for going to college and playing 'College ball' as over here at my university there is no competitions that have the high standard of the ones over in US. I strive my best to be academically solid and i beleive im well organised to fit my study with training and work commitments. I want to be a part of a team that trains everyday, whether it be out on the park or in the gym, i want to reach my full potential and maintain it whilst the team succeeds together.
I would love to attend a college on the Western side of America as i have visited and thoroughly enjoyed that particular area. I am willing to learn and develop my skills in order to be the best i can be.
The way womens soccer is recognised over in USA i see it as a blessing, here in Australia it is still developing and trying to catch up with the mens soccer.
I am open to many different schools although it would be a dream to play in either Division 1 or 2 in Womens Soccer.
I have the determination and perseverance to achieve academically and on the sporting feild.
I would be greatful to have a sports scholarship as it would help my family out alot as they are currently already paying for my University study, Football commitments and living expenses as my casual job can not cover all this.
