Personal Statement
When I play soccer I try to think about the team and not only about myself. Many times I have had opportunities to make a goal, but then I realize there is a teammate in a better position, so I do not hesitate to pass the ball for a better chance or angle. People call me "pulguita" because I am a small girl but very fast. I get alone very well with my teammates and have the ability to make friends. I like to hang out and go out with different people, different ages, from different schools. For example I have my school friends, soccer, basketball and flag football friends. I have participated in many tournaments and had given me the opportunity to meet different people. I am proud to have recently been selected to represent Panama on the sub 17 soccer team to go to IBERCUP to be held on march this year at Florida. Academics is also very important for me and I try to make a good balance between school and sports and other extracurricular activities. I have been very lucky to have the opportunity to go to Academia Interamericana de Panama because is one of the best schools in Panama, where 50% of the classes are tought in english and the other half in our native spanish language. My mom tells me since I was little I have had a special care for the less fortunate people. For example she tells me that I would bring to school the toys I liked the most when we were asked to bring stuff for the poor people. I went last year to a social service program coordinated by the school where we had to live 1 month in the mountains of Panama far away from the city and had the opportunity to spend time with people that dont have much but they are willing to give what they have little. It was a wonderful experience that I am sure I will take for the rest of my life. My parents have tought me we always have to do our best in everything we do in life, I think I try to do that because I think if I dont do it I will feel bad about myself. On the contrary if I try and for some reason it didnt come well, at least I will feel good anyways because I know I tried to do my best. I would like to thank in advance all the recruiting team and persons that are helping me to achieve the goal to have the opportunity to play soccer at a US University because I am sure you will no regret it, it is my passion, and I enjoy every minute of it.
