Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Susana Diez, and I am the starting goalkeeper for my team, as well as a striker and midfielder. With over a decade of experience playing the game, never once have I fallen out of love with soccer. I began playing at a very young age, and I had to climb the ranks of an all-boys soccer academy, in which I had to work twice as hard as my peers due to my disposition, considering how my school didn't offer the sport for girls my age. Eventually, when I became eligible to play at my school, I immediately joined the team. The following 6 years were filled with practices, friendlies, and tournaments.
The time and effort that I’ve dedicated to this game has led me to form part of one of, if not the best school soccer team in the country. As a team, we’ve won every tournament available to our school. Of these tournaments, multiple we’ve won on penalties, in which my role has been crucial to these victories. Due to the high level playing conducted by me and my teammates, we were able to participate in a La Liga workshop in Spain and had the opportunity to play against a professional team. In fact, my performances even caught the attention of my countries national team, who have invited me to form a part of the national team.
Academically, I am dedicated and always put my best effort. My grades have consistently been above par, thus paving a path towards academic excellence. My dedication towards my academics has seen me earn multiple principle honors in my school, as well as being elected as a member of the leadership team in NHS.
In regard to my character, I am a dedicated student and athlete. Never missing practices and always staying after they finish in order to help both my teammates and myself, make up my routine. And although my main focus and passion is and will always be soccer, I do have experience in other sports such as basketball, tennis, and horseback riding, to the extent that I managed to represent my country in Paso Fino world championships and earn medals both times.
