Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Maria Herrera, and I am from the Dominican Republic. Living in a country where soccer is evolving every single day, I find myself looking forward to my future in this sport. I have played soccer since first grade, but it wasn't until a few years ago that I started to take it seriously and expanded my horizon to club soccer. Currently, I play for my school’s Varsity Soccer Team as number 4 where I have the privilege to be the captain. On my club soccer team, SD Colonial, I am number 28 and my coach is Erick Pérez. I would consider myself a very determined player who works very hard to strive to be better in the sport. I play center back on SD Colonial and in my high school team, I also play center back but sometimes play center midfield. As a student-athlete, I continue to prioritize my studies and continue achieving good grades. I know how to balance being a student and an athlete, which is something I have mastered in my many years of doing many extracurriculars while continuing my studies.
I look forward to having the opportunity to play soccer at a collegiate level since it's a sport that I have enjoyed since I was a child and find comfort in.
