Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Megan Jeffries and I would like to introduce myself! I am 17 years old and a senior at TASIS England.I moved back to England in 9th grade from Los Altos, California, where I played on MVLA top team, and eventually was moved up to play on the MVLA ECNL. Since returning four years ago, I have since played on the varsity team since 9th grade. I became a starter as a freshman and was named a captain my sophomore, junior and senior season. I was voted MVP for the 2015 and 2016 season and just this past season I was awarded The Terrence Glynn Memorial Award for sportsmanship. I have also received the “All-Tournament” award both my freshman and sophomore and junior years, at our annual International tournament held by different school across Europe. Teams such as Frankfurt International, Cairo American College, American International School in Vienna, American school in the Hague competed in this tournament and every year a different school gets a chance to host it. Outside of school, I played for Carshalton Athletics, I joined half way into the season and scored in my debut game against the toughest team in our league, at the time we were playing an age group up. In 2015, we were named cup champions and league finalists. This past season we were named League Champions and Cup Champions in which I was given man of the match. Once the season is over we play an indoor soccer league. My club team competes against the top level teams in the county and region. Last year we secured national futsal champions, and managed to do it again this year, my team are now two time futsal FA champions. The college camps I attended in the summer of 2016, one was in Florida for UCLA and the second in North Carolina, it was instrumental in expanding my skill set and allowed me to better my understanding of the game, I highly looked forward to these opportunities, and came back with more aggression and desire than ever before.
Over the years, my passion for playing at the elite level and ultimately at the collegiate level has guided my desires to improve my skills. Ever since the age of four, I have found myself hooked at this physically demanding and mentally stimulating game.
While I am still considering my field of study, I am looking towards psychology as well as sports medicine so I can continue to be active in the sports environment after I graduate. I am often my toughest critic but that has helped me to exceed my own expectations, strive for perfection, and continue to seek greater challenges because I know the experiences I will gain will help me accomplish my goals to play at the college level and beyond. I plan to consider colleges that are a good match for me both athletically and academically. I am very passionate about soccer and I look forward to finding an institution that caters to my priorities.
