Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Fede Everts and I am now a junior at the American School of the Hague, in the Netherlands.
Throughout my life, I have been moving all over the world due to my parent's jobs. I was originally born in the Netherlands, however, I quickly relocated to the United Kingdom where I went to school in London for 2,5 years. At the age of 5, I moved to the United States. Here I resided for 8 years in Houston, Texas. Living overseas changed my life by influencing me greatly. I had to immediately adapt to new surroundings, new cultures, language as well as lifestyles. Around the age of 5, my father suggested me to play soccer, his old passion. Thus, I began playing soccer at the Houston Express soccer club and always played at the highest level possible for my age group. During these years, I discovered my true passion for the sport. At the beginning of my 8th-grade year, my parents decided to relocate us back to our home, the Netherlands.
At my new school, the American School of the Hague, I joined the Girls Varsity Soccer team both in my freshman and sophomore year. This past year my team placed 3rd at our end of season tournament in International Schools Division I, the highest division possible. Apart from playing varsity soccer at my high school, I also play year-round soccer for my club team, Graaf Willem. In my freshman grade year, I played on the under 19 team while during my sophomore year I played in the under 17 team, nonetheless, both teams played in the division called “hoofdklasse”, which is considered to be the highest level possible for girls in this region of the Netherlands. I am now currently playing under 19 again to continue to challenge myself to improve while playing in an older age bracket. For the past 3 years, my team has been attending the National Championship, which consists of 16 teams attending from all over the country and always placing in the top 7. Although soccer is a big part of my life, I try my best to keep schoolwork a priority. This year I will be started the IB Program (International Baccalaureate), a challenging 2-year program to continue to broaden myself and to have access to worldwide University programs.
