Personal Statement
My name is Jordyn James and I'm a 2021 grad who lives in Harare, Zimbabwe. I am currently undergoing the International Baccalaureate program where I have a cumulative IB average of a 6. In my soccer career, I have played with the Varsity and Travelling team for more than 4 years. In those years I have been captain for two consecutive years where I have led my team as a Forward both locally and internationally. In addition to that, I have been awarded various awards, made all-tournament teams around the globe and have been awarded “Most valuable player” 2 years in a row and I plan on making it a third. Aside from having a blast on the field, I have performed with various international and local orchestras and artists with my violin which is my second love to a game of soccer. My favourite moment on stage has to be my performance with Zimbabwe’s world-renowned multi-award-winning artist Oliver Mutkudkzi (Tuku). Our combination of classical music mixed with the upbeat rhythm of Africa was just magical. Growing up in Zimbabwe, I have seen many injustices and in my free time, and I make it a priority to bring change to whatever extent I can whether that be big or small. I founded a female empowerment group in my school which works on tackling social injustices young girls and women face daily. In addition to this, I have been part of major fundraising projects for various orphanages around Zimbabwe which include Harare Children's home, and DZ orphans home. I'm a firm believer that in times of these in the world where it seems everything is in turmoil the only way to bring back joy, happiness and prosperity is to feel, sympathize and react to needs outside of our own. Please do take note that because I do the International Baccalaureate the grading system is completely different which makes it difficult to translate into an American GPA system. However, I'm more than welcome to show you transcripts of my grades if need be. In addition to this please take note that I will be taking my SATS in December 2020.
Due to Covid-19 most of the game footage I have is outdated. However, I have put together a training video of myself to help you understand myself as a player until I can acquire updated game footage.
Best Regards,
Jordyn.
