Cherry Yu - 2025 ...Personal Statement
This is Cherry Yu from Sporting Blue Valley U17 (2023-24 season), class of 2025. I am writing this email to inquire about my future possibilities of playing soccer at collegiate level. Soccer has been a very important part of my life. Among all the sports that I have tried, my true love is soccer and I find my spirit in this sport.
Going to college will be a big change for me, as I will no longer be with my friends and teammates. A new journey is ahead of me and it makes me anxious and excited. For this reason, I'd like to choose my future college soccer career carefully. I have selected the places that I want to go and hope that I will further develop as a player and thrive academically. Your university is one of my top choices and I would be really happy if you can give me some feedback and advice.
Here is some information about myself and my team.
Sporting Blue Valley U17 (2023-24). We made it to the ECNL playoffs in 2022 and 2023 since we joined the league. In the last season, my team started with a 2-2-2, and finished the season 10-2-2, second in the Midwest Conference. It was a hard season for me and I was very proud of my team and myself.
I am a coming junior in class 2025 at Blue Valley North High School. I have a GPA 4.62 (weighted), 4.0 (unweighted).
Here are some of my achievements in soccer. I played center forward on the Sporting team (#11) and forward/mid-field on the high school team for the past two seasons.
- US soccer YNT/Talent ID camps invite: twice in 2022;
- ECNL Midwest all-conference team 2021-22 (U15): First team 2022;
- KC Current reserve team training camp 2022 invite;
- Top Drawer Soccer, Prep Soccer Commented Player.
- Prep Soccer Nationally Ranked Player: #94
- Kansas HS All-State Team (2022 and 2023).
