December 29th, 2022. A day that will affect my soccer career forever. On that day, I went in for a tackle and came out of screaming and seeing athletic trainers, my coach, my teammates, and my mother sprinting out to hold me and tell me I would be ok. I was almost immediately rushed to the ER and a few days later, I got the worst news an athlete can ever hear. A complete tear in my anterior cruciate ligament or as many would call it a blown-out ACL. My heart, my spirt, and my goals felt crushed in that moment. No athlete can stand the fact that they are out of their sport for a year. As surgery was just about 16 months done, I am getting stronger and better every single day. I am a fighter. My goals and my spirit will not be crushed because of this. My name is Ella Schoder, and I am a 5'5 outside forward/ outside back. I play for Mandeville soccer club, and I play at Lakeshore High School (Division 2 state runner up in the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 season). I would like to go to a school that has my ideal major, journalism, and that is in the any part in the US. I love the sport and I want to continue my soccer career and academics at a school that best suits me!
