Update 11/16: HS team won state
I started playing soccer when I was about 5 years old. Soon after that I joined my local girls rec team and then moved on to play with the boys rec team. A couple years later I made my first classic team, which is where I really started to get into goalkeeping. I tried out and made my first travel team, the Montgomery Soccer Club (MSC) Academy, which later became MSC Flash. I was with MSC Flash for two years until the summer of my freshman year of high school when I successfully tried out for MSC Lightning. At the time, MSC Lightning was a Division 1 WAGS team and then we moved up to Region 1. Throughout all this time I had been mainly focusing on goalkeeping but had also been playing playing center back when not in goal. In my freshman year of high school at Walter Johnson (WJ), I was the only freshman to make the varsity team. I started 5 times and played in a total of 7 games, including all the playoff games. I went on to win the Rookie of the Year award.
In addition to club and high school soccer, I made the u-13 Maryland ODP team and felt that I really improved from the weekly goalie training I received from ODP. For the last three years, I played Super Y in the summer. Last summer, I played on a u-14 team for the Washington Spirit that was selected to play at Nationals. This summer, I’m playing on a u-18 Super Y team for the Washington Spirit and have been nominated twice for the Regional Scouting Series for Region 1.
I want to play soccer in college because I love playing the game and being on a sports team. The camaraderie I feel with my teammates is a very special thing. I think I could have a really good experience playing soccer in college and can continue to improve my game.
In my freshman year at WJ, I averaged an unweighted 3.6 GPA. I took two honors classes in middle school and 5 honors classes and in high school where I achieved mostly A’s and a few B’s. During my sophomore year I plan to take 5 honors classes and one AP class. I mostly enjoy History and English class but will continue to work hard in all my classes next year. My grades are very important to me, and I will work very hard to keep them up and strive to improve them.
My family consists of my Mom, Dad, older sister Sammy and twin brother Matt. My older sister is going into her junior year and swims competitively at Dickinson College, and my brother plays soccer like me. I do many other things outside of soccer. I play trumpet in the concert band at WJ, I’m on the JV softball team, play rec basketball, and swim competitively on my neighborhood summer team. I love spending time with my friends and family as well.
