My name is Amber Schauman, I live in Fallston MD with my parents, sister, 2 dogs and bunny. I have played soccer since I was 5 years old. I played on the local travel team for 4 years and the last 2 years have played for a club team. Freshman year I played for Fallston’s JV soccer team and sophomore year; I was pulled up to Varsity right after the start of the season. Before getting pulled up my sophomore year, I was nominated by over half the JV Team as well as the coaches, as their Team Captain. In addition to soccer, I also competed on the outdoor track team my freshman and sophomore year and look forward to competing in that again this year.
While soccer is very important to me, my academics and who I am as a person are what is most important. I was able to maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout my Freshman year and sophomore year. My junior school year, 2024-2025, I am looking forward to continuing working towards maintaining that GPA, while having added more AP and Honor courses.
When I’m not playing soccer, I enjoy spending my time running, working out, reading Colleen Hoover novels and being with my family and friends. I have spent time volunteering at a local homeless shelter for women and children. I helped watch and play with the children while their parents were in group therapy sessions. Along with actual time spent at the shelter, this year we will be supplying all the families with bags of Christmas goodies and treats to help them celebrate the holidays. Another passion of mine is fostering animals for a local animal rescue, Fairy Tails Rescue Maryland. Over the past few years, I’ve helped my mom foster 16 dogs and 3 bunnies, keeping them safe, loved and well cared for while they wait for their forever home. Our first foster we failed, and she is now part of the family, but the other 15 dogs and 3 bunnies have all found wonderful homes outside of ours.
Over the last year I have become more involved in Clubs at school. I was appointed Ambassador of Morgans Message Club. This club and what it represents is very important to me. My goal is to earn a Psychology degree and become a therapist to help with anxiety, depression, trauma and overall mental health. Mental Health among athletes, especially those dealing with career ending injuries, is something that needs more attention and I’m thankful to be a small part of bringing awareness and change to that. I am also a member of the One Love Club. Along the same lines of mental health and equally important, but more focused on healthy relationships with a partner and one’s self-worth in that relationship. I also participate in Spanish Club, German Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
I am looking forward to furthering my soccer career to the collegiate level and pursuing my dreams of being a psychologist. I am also looking forward to being part of an amazing community with amazing people.
