The benefits of persistence, hard work, passion, and trust in the game became crystal clear to me last year. My club team of 7 years was consistently losing to high competition as we made the transition from an unorganized group of athletes to a disciplined, well-functioning team. It was difficult to push away frustration and continue to play our style as we lost, but we kept training our way and eventually proved ourselves by winning the 2018 Super Y National Championship. Now, we have our eyes set on even greater goals as we trust that the extra training and hard work can get us to the next level.
Not only do I now realize that anything can be accomplished with full commitment and trust in your teammates, I know that sometimes sacrifices have to be made to get there. For this reason, I am looking for a program that values integrity, persistence, work-ethic, and leadership both academically and athletically. In terms of style, I thrive when playing through attacking lines, picking apart defenses, and distributing the ball forward. I believe that I not only have talent on the field, but my mindset will allow me to have an even more immediate impact on team play and on my academic and life challenges in the future. While I always want to win, I realize there is a process to get there.
