"Though she be but little, she is fierce." These words attributed to Shakespeare sum up who I am as a player and as a person. With a strong work-ethic and intense dedication to doing what is right, I use my fierce character to work on constant improvement as I strive to fulfill my dreams. Since the age of 5, I have excelled as both a student and as an athlete, but it is not only in these areas that I work towards my goals. I am very committed to creating a society in which all individuals are valued, respected, and honored for what they bring to our collective humanity. My brother, Najib--with severe Cerebral Palsy, my best friend and biggest fan--has been instrumental in building this passion within me. More than anything one else, he has taught me compassion; he has taught me about unconditional love and support; and most importantly, he has taught me that no matter the challenges that life may bring, where there is a will, there is a way. My brother has helped inspire me to embody his strength in my studies, on the soccer pitch, and in leading others in creating a more peaceful world.
I hope to carry my commitment and passion forward with college studies in psychology and neuroscience.. I feel that through the study of behavior, I can help our society address social issues and inspire continued change and improvement on our collective journey. I want to also demonstrate this passion on the filed playing soccer, the sport that I love the most, as it embodies individual excellence for collective gain. Often I find myself in the position of play maker and leader on my teams because I do all I can to perform at the highest levels possible while supporting the success of others. In doing this, my fierce nature comes out. I am a warrior and my size does not capture all I have within. I am hopeful that my future path will continue to provide venues in which I can demonstrate this greatness and use it to achieve excellence for all.
