Hello, I am Olivia Roye. Playing soccer started as a way to burn some energy and give my parents a break but it has turned into so much more. I was not the best player in my early years earning the nickname of trailer, but then it became tank. I started to see how good I could be if I stuck with it for a while but now I hope to stick with it through college, advancing my technical skills and overall ability to read the game. There's nothing better than getting the perfect header, physically overpowering an opponent, or striking the ball just right.
However, I've had my fair share of setbacks in soccer, but it has made me a stronger person on and off the field. I had meniscus surgery the summer coming into my freshman year due to overuse and then in the summer of entering my sophomore year, a dirty tackle resulted in me tearing my ACL and meniscus, spraining my MCL, and fracturing my femur/tibia in my other knee. My parents asked me if I wanted to quit playing but that thought never even crossed my mind. This just motivated me to make a stronger comeback. After playing for Liverpool’s ECNL team, I could not try out for the 2023-24 season, so I am currently playing with ECNL-RL to get more playing time for a faster recovery. I fell in love with getting good results and the work it takes to get to the results. I didn't become the player I am today overnight; it took countless workouts when I didn't want to get up but chose to. I want to pursue a career in sports medicine because of how passionate I am about playing soccer and helping others become stronger through injuries to play the sport they love. Thank you coaches and I look forward to hearing from you!
