My name is Grace Helmke, I am a 2023 versatile player. My love and passion for soccer was only reinforced after my freshman season was canceled due to the pandemic. Throughout the ups and downs of life soccer has always been a constant. Soccer has been something I look forward to and always strive to be better at. Often people ask athletes and students what makes them special. To me, what makes people special are the traits held by successful athletes and leaders. Traits such as leadership, determination, courage, strong work ethic, and being a team player. I have learned and built on each of these traits every day as a multi sport athlete at Manchester Jr/Sr High School and Michigan Jackson Rush soccer club. During my sophomore season of high school and my club season this past fall, my versatility benefited my team’s significantly. My coaches know that wherever they put me they will have somebody who can see the field, be calm on the ball, and make great passes. But most importantly someone who will always give 110%.
Academically I aspire to chase a career in criminal justice and/or the medical field. Possibly something in between the two, such as forensic or behavioral sciences. I have always wanted to find a career where I can help people. That’s what I have always found myself doing whether it’s with teammates, friends, or family. That’s what makes me feel like I have a strong influence and impact on other peoples lives, and I take pride in that.
