Hello, my name is Rheana Hope Agujo Zerna. I am a 2021 graduate from Saint Michael-Albertville (STMA) High School in Minnesota.
I learned to play soccer before I learned how to tie my shoes. Playing soccer taught me to be responsible, patient, and a flexible team player. I learned to manage my time and prioritize. I play multiple positions. At my High School, I played holding mid in Freshman and Sophomore and Center Back as a Junior. During my Freshman year, I earned MN State All-Tournament while playing the holding mid position. During my Junior year, we moved to the Lake Conference which has the biggest schools in the state of MN. Playing as a Center Back, I defended against top players in the state of MN and earned me an All-State Second Team and All-Conference awards. I'm also one of the upcoming Captains for the school year 2020.
I currently play for the MN North Oaks Soccer Club Team, “Blast”. The club is located 45 minutes away from my home, and their primary focus is on possession based soccer. I play Wing/forward for both the 2002 and 2003 teams. Both teams were league champions this past year and were promoted to Premier II status. On the 2002 team, I helped as the leading scorer. As a Blast player, my team travels to Phoenix, Las Vegas and Chicago for tournaments. We also played in the USA Cup that is held every July here in MN. This past year, our MN United (our local Major League Soccer team) put together a special tournament to showcase our 2003 MN soccer teams against international teams. My 2003 Blast team was very fortunate to be selected to represent MN. Meanwhile, the International teams consisted of teams from Sweden, Canada, Iceland and Japan (Tokiwagi Gakuen HS). Growing up, I watched delegation from Tokiwagi Gakuen HS played all the top international teams, and they always came out as a winner. I was fascinated on how they played soccer. I thought to myself it would be awesome to play against them. My wish came true this past summer when my 2003 Blast team played against them. It felt like I was playing against a professional team. It was an awesome experience.
My family and I take my education pretty seriously. I am planning to be in the Medical field. I am an A student and a member of the National Honor Society (NHS). As a member of NHS, I participate in NHS community activities such as roadside cleanups and dinner & Bingo with our local Senior citizens. I am also a member of the Concert Choir. As member, I have been to numerous concerts collaborating with our local college/university choirs. My highlight this year was singing with the VOCES8, a quartet from England.
Playing soccer brings out the best in me. My goal is to find a school that will challenge me as a student-athlete on and off the field.
