My name is Paige Ostroushko. I am graduating in 2024. I have a 3.9 GPA. Last year I took AP classes and made the National Honors Society along with the Dean's List at Prior Lake High School. I now attend Shattuck St. Mary's. In 2019 I made the National History Day and almost qualified for state but instead made the honorable mention for the District Level on the Salem Witch Trials. I've played soccer since I was nine years old and want to follow in my dad's footsteps. My dad played Division 1 at Valparaiso and signed a contract to play professionally in Germany. I am a gifted athlete who is extremely competitive in all areas of my life; hating to lose and very driven. From family game nights to other sports, my competitiveness carried me to the soccer field. I will do anything in my power to win a game and I never give up; I fight until the end. In 2017, I made the ODP State Team and was named player of the ODP Midwest Regional Showcase. The following season, I made the ODP Regional Team but couldn’t play because I committed to play in the Girls Development Academy at Shattuck St. Mary's in 2018 for Sue Vodicka and made the U15 DA team when I was only 11. That year, I had six assists and two goals playing 4 years up. In 2019, I tore my ACL and fractured my knee. It was devastating for me. I quickly made it my goal to get back on my feet and play at the level I was playing before. Only 10% of girls that tear their ACL come back to play at their previous level. I can proudly say that I AM the 10%! My mentality and athleticism got stronger from going through this horrible injury at such a young age. I am a stronger athlete today because of my injury. Nothing was going to keep me from coming back to the game I love and from reaching my goals and dreams. Today, I use to play in the Girls Academy. Unfortunately, I was forced out of the girl's academy and now playing at Shattuck St. Mary's to further my education and soccer, while continuing to perform in every practice and game. I am always early to practice because on time is late. If I make a mistake, I fix it. I am kind, honest, and humble to my peers, coaches, and parents. Soccer has always come first in my life and everything else second. I train daily with Brayan Lopez, my personal soccer trainer. He trains National and Professional Team players from all around the world as well as the Minnesota United MLS Team. When I am not training with him, I work out on my own. This consists of yoga, running, weight training, footwork, shooting, and speed/agility training. For recovery, I stretch, take ice baths, and use the sauna to help heal and speed up recovery. Every chance I get, I tune into professional futbol leagues from around the world to analyze the game and learn how I can improve my game by watching the best players in the world. My favorite league is La Liga and my favorite team is Real Madrid because of how dynamic and skilled the team is. Outside of soccer, I love to learn languages. I am fluent in Spanish and Latin. I am currently teaching myself Ukrainian and some Russian. I also like to garden, camp, the outdoors, and hiking with my family. I like playing with my two pet boa constrictors, my four exotic cats, and with all my Leachie geckos. I also spend time playing FIFA 23 and investing in my LEGO hobby and it continues to grow. My family and I have a gecko breeding business which is a family hobby of ours. This has taught me about business and how to invest my own money, be responsible, and be an entrepreneur! I love helping people! I am a great teammate, friend, and role model. My overall goal is to play professional soccer at the highest level and to use my voice to advocate for Women’s Rights to help further generations of female athletes. I want to help make a difference in this world. After, my professional career, I would like to help people by being a human rights activist.
