2017 Highlights Personal Statement
I love the competition that soccer brings. It is a true team sport and you have to have the continuity and teamwork in order to succeed. As having been starter on my high school soccer team since the 7th grade I looked up to the upperclassmen as mentors and role models. I now find myself in a leadership role on my team. An injury in the 7th grade, while at the time was devastating, made me realize how much I love the sport. I have been determined ever since to out work my opponents to make sure I have the tools to succeed. I want to not only succeed on the playing field but in the class room. My team has made back to back playoff appearances for the first time in school history. I feel like we are leaving a legacy for other girls to aspire to. I like being part of a team for those reasons.
I also participate in cheerleading, basketball, track, and dancing while maintaining a good GPA in the classroom. I volunteer 25 hours of community service to give back to my community to make it a better place. I am a very self motivated individual, with good character and I am looking for a program that fits these types of traits. I know I have the capabilities to be a student/athlete for your program that will be someone that your program desires.

- From Coach Luke Sheeky: great attitude and very coachable with implementing specific parts very quickly this camp has done wonders for your confidence as you were not out of place with very high level players. Rated very high in understanding the game, attitude, application and 1v1.

- Technical Emma has a strong left foot and ability to control passes on her first touch. I would encourage her to work on strengthening her passing, focusing on the pace and accuracy. As a player on the left side of the field, being able to send long passes to midfielders or other defenders to switch the point of attack will help her vision of the game and variability in attack. This can include both strong passes on the ground as well as long balls in the air. Tactical In the 11v11 game at night, Emma was playing outside back on the left side. She had a good awareness of staying together with the rest of the back line and moving as a unit. As a defender, she was able to step with checking forwards, but a few times would drop off them as they turned with the ball. If she can stay tighter on the player the whole time, she will be more successful in winning challenges. On the offensive side, she can grow her game by looking to attack more out of the back, both on the dribble and looking to get up the field for a switched ball to her. It will help to open up opposing defenses and provide more options for her teammates. Physical We were impressed with Emma’s eagerness to challenge attacking players and tackle, specifically in 50-50 challenges. She should focus on getting her body between players and the ball in any 1v1 situations she finds herself in, as well as continuing to grow her aerial presence in both the back line and midfield. Psychological Emma came in with a great attitude to all of our sessions and continued to work hard, even in poor field conditions. She was very coachable and had great energy throughout the day! Thanks, and best of luck to Emma as she continues to grow in her soccer career.
