My name is Cassidy Gottesman and I am currently a Junior at Bishop Gorman High School and will graduate in 2026. I am looking to not only continue my education but continue my soccer career through college. As the oldest of 3 girls (siblings) in my family, I have always had the unspoken pressures or (in my mind) goals to achieve and dream big, whether it be academics, sports or even beliefs. With my parents being from strong cultural backgrounds, my mom, Korean and my dad, Jewish, I have heard of past family struggles, and unfortunately even as much as present day war. There is a belief system that pushes me every day and will continue to push me in my future.
For my age and current soccer career, I started club soccer late, in 5th grade (which is late in today's standards). I was fortunate to have coaches who believed in me and my skill, which was based on my hard work. During this time and even as of 3 years ago I had one specific coach that changed my position to midfielder and from there I found my groove and comfort. I work on myself both physically with an abundance of training and mentally with film, stretching and even taking some time away from soccer.
Playing soccer in college will not only be a great accomplishment but it will prepare me for graduate school (I want to be an orthodontist) and life. My parents always like to hire and appreciate athletes as employees because they know those individuals have dedication and great work ethic. These characteristics are ones that cannot be taught but are instilled within yourself (i.e. me). I have all the tools to succeed on and off the field and I will use any opportunity to show coaches, my parents, peers, associates, teachers, etc., that I will succeed.
