I have been told "no" many times. So many times that "no" isn't a door closing, but opening wider to help me get better. I have never been selected for a high level team on my first try. The rejections fueled a fire of grit, passion, and a raw will to never give up. Training and conditioning 6 days a week and playing soccer 12 months a year, got me to play at a level those coaches said I wouldn't achieve. I pride myself on my work ethic, attitude, and never giving up. In addition to my measurable progress, I have established myself as a leader and a resource for my peers on and off the field. Regardless of my soccer commitments between trainings, multiple teams and their practices, games, and tournaments I am able to balance my friendships, soccer, and my academics, and maintain a 3.8 GPA in my high school honors program. My future goals include continuing to develop as a high level college athlete, continue my academic success, and pursue a career in journalism and sports broadcasting. In the beginning, if I had been told yes, I would never have known what I am capable of achieving.
